Grief & Traumatic Loss Speaker | Aly Bird, Registered Psychotherapist

Keynote Speaker | Workshop Facilitator | Grief & Trauma Specialist

Let’s talk about grief—honestly, clearly, and with care.

Grief changes how we see the world, how we relate to others, and how we make sense of what’s next. I’m a therapist and speaker who believes that talking about death and loss—without euphemism, fear, or oversimplification—is one of the most powerful things we can do.

Whether I’m addressing mental health professionals, workplace leaders, caregivers, or community members, I help people understand grief beyond clichés and clinical checklists. My talks invite people to feel seen, supported, and better equipped to respond to grief in themselves or others.

What Others’ Have Said about Aly’s Speaking

Aly attended our retreat and offered a truly meaningful workshop for the families who participated. Her presence was gentle, compassionate, and grounding. Many families shared that her session was the highlight of their weekend. She provided not only valuable information but also deep emotional support, creating a safer and nurturing space for bereaved parents. Aly was also wonderful to work with—she communicated clearly and was thoughtful throughout the planning process. We were so grateful to have her with us.

“This was a heart-centred discussion that was raw and authentic. I was overwhelmed by the openness with which people shared. I feel like crying but in a good way”
    Workshop Participant

“Aly was very responsive to requests and communication from us during our planning stages.  She worked with us to create a presentation that matched the theme and objectives of our conference.  The content of her presentation was relevant, easy to apply to our own lives and practice, and inspired all who were in attendance to do better when working with someone who is grieving.  Her presentation skills are top notch – the audience was engaged and alternated between tears and laughter the whole time.  Overall, a very positive experience for those planning and attending the conference.”
Organizers of the 2023 Hospice & Palliative Care Conference for the North Simcoe Muskoka Hospice Palliative Care Network

“In the words of one of the attendees, “Aly is so down to earth and personable!” She is an exceptional speaker and author (which we can say now that we’ve read her book “Grief Ally”). We were able to add a few copies of it to our community-based hospice’s lending library. Everyone in attendance at her talk took home something they learned! Our volunteers were grateful for the opportunity to have the discussion on “Amplifying Your Impact in Grief Support” and feel we are better equipped to support those when it comes to grief literacy.
